(This is the story of how Maddie and Dan met)
It was a terrible day. The forest of a family of Wander-creatures burst into flames. That Wander-creature family so happened to be Maddie's. King Thomas and Queen Julia were in a panic. They were in such a panic, they even forgot one of their children, and that child was Maddie. Comet and Lily made it out alive, but Maddie almost came to her death. It was too long ago for her to remember, but all she could remember was the deafening roar of the flames. Maddie fled in panic. She was little, and had no idea where her family was. Little did she know, they had escaped. Maddie found a burrow, and she was small enough to fit inside. A family of groundhogs was in there, though. The mother made a hissing sound at Maddie and swung her arm at her. Maddie used her fruit bat wings (she has griffon wings, now) to help back her up out of the burrow. She couldn't fly until Midnight taught her. Maddie still had to make her way through the dangerous flames. She found another burrow. This time, she poked her head in to make sure it was safe. It was, so she hid in there until the fire would be put out. Maddie was tired, so she fell asleep. She dreamed about her family, her Dad, her Mom, Comet, and Lily, who was her best friend, and who now is gone. She awoke from something nudging her. It was a little green zbornak with a flowing blond mane. It seemed like this was his den. Maddie studied him, and clarified to herself that he was definately a boy. Maddie and the zbornak would have said something to each other, but they were both too young to speak. Instead, Maddie stroked his nose, and the zbornak nudged her hand. Turns out that this zbornak had lost his family, too, but not from the fire. Maddie now saw that most of the forest's trees were gone. She got out of the burrow and started to walk away from the burrow and the zbornak. He made a little whimpering sound. Maddie turned around and looked a the little green zbornak, then turned back around and continued walking. Suddenly, Maddie heard clopping. She turned around again, and saw that the zbornak was now following her. Maddie smiled and pets the zbornak. Maddie decided to let the zbornak come with her. As they got older and learned to speak, they learned each other's names, and the green zbornak's name was Dan. Maddie and Dan grew up together, and they continue to walk together, shoulder to shoulder, best friends forever.
